Happy Anniversary ~ 39 Years!

Celebrating 39 years together! I am so proud of my parents and of their marriage and friendship! Love you two so much!! 

Fun N the Sun Weekend

We had a beautiful weekend. Unusually mild and non-humid for August around these parts. My dad and Jason took Jameson and Brighton to a reptile convention nearby. It was work related, but a good excuse to let the kids see some slimy creatures! 

The rest of the time we had some nice boat rides, and a relaxing dinner on the water. 

Looking forward to the long weekend ahead!!

11 Month Back To Backs

11 Months...tear, sniff, sniff, another tear.
Yeah, I really cannot believe it. Baylor will be a year old in a month. He is our BABY. Wow it goes fast. As far as updates for this month, we have reached a milestone. Baylor has been sleeping in our room his whole life. I know, it sounds ridiculous. BUT, he was waking up for a bottle every night between 10:30 and midnight and since his real bedroom is right beside Brighton's room on the other side of the house, I could not risk him waking his brother up with his "FEED ME!" wails each night. I have to admit, a small part of me liked it. It kept him like my little newborn, sleeping next to me! My nugget sized 'newborn', that is! Okay, so it was time for that to stop. While we were at the beach last week, something miraculous happened. Baylor stopped waking up for those late night feedings. So, when we got back home we moved him into his room. He has been sleeping GREAT! Our bedroom is so empty now, but it is time!!

Brighton 11 Months

Sorry Baylor is not smiling but he is so hard to get pictures of the way he is rapidly moving around these days. I call his name to get a picture, he turns and grins at me and as soon as the camera snaps, his head has whipped around in another direction. 
He is starting to really like bouncy balls. He tries to say "ball" but it sounds more like "baaah". He is eating a lot of food and less formula! He is still pulling up (1-handed pull up now!) and walking around furniture while holding on, but has not officially walked yet. He loves doing "So Big!" and Patty Cake. Oh yes, and did I mention he is finally sleeping in his own room?? I think I did!! Those are his last month's milestones. 

Last Beach Trip of the Summer

We have just returned from another mini beach trip. It was a good time but we had really bad weather for the most part. Maybe a few hours here and there of sunshine, and the rest of the time it was raining.

Once again the Jumperoo has come in handy! Since Baylor is oh so mobile these days, this is how we were able to contain him on the sand. 

The rest of the kids entertained themselves. We called them "Bucketheads".

This tent was supposed to be for Baylor to nap in while we were on the beach, but instead it served as a shelter for when the rain started to really come down!! 

It was still a great trip and we had fun just to be able to get away!! Good bye beach, until next summer...

Monster Trucks and Wing-Off Weekend

Last weekend was fun for all. For the past few months Brighton has been watching monster truck videos at his Abuelo's house. He has been pretty obsessed with them. Saturday he got the chance to see them in action! Max and Connie took him to his 1st big event. The Monster Truck Jam at the Charlotte Motor Speedway. 

Looks like there was so much for them to do and see. I think they had a great time!! 

Brighton came home a happy boy with lots of souvenirs. 

As for the rest of us, we were  slaves to the sun. 

We rode the boat over to my parent's house and had our 1st annual "Wing-Off" with their new neighbor's, Jeanette and David. 

There were 4 entries. David, DB, Mickey and myself. Mickey was declared the Big Winner!! I think it was a win win situation for all though, as we got to eat delicious food and had great fun with it. 

Sunday was another nice day. Brighton was with us this time, and we had a replay of the day before! 

Now, back to the work week. 

Pretty, Fun Weekend!

Last weekend we had perfect boating weather. Yay! We went out on Saturday with Jason's long time friend Damon, as well as mine, Amy and the Antley's. 

So glad that they joined us and we had such a nice day. 

On Sunday, we went to Fort Mill to surprise Donnie on his RETIREMENT! 

What a remarkable achievement! We all met at Rachel and Donnie's and had a great time. It was a perfect day to eat a low country boil, and celebrate such a milestone.

Brotherly Fun

It has been sort of a slow week, but that's okay. We have been accomplishing a lot!

I have to brag on Brighton a little bit 1st. After almost a year of trying to get him potty trained I think he is finally there! He has been doing so well for the last 2 weeks. He has been doing okay, but was inconsistant, and like we were told, a switch was flipped and it was like overnight he "Got It". Gum rewards have helped quite a bit, but whatever works! He has also improved on his manners. He says "please, thank you, yes sir, no mam" without having to be reminded now. We are really proud of him this week. 

  

Baylor has been trying to keep up with big brother in any way that he can! They have been playing together in the playroom. 

He has been busy growing his teeth. He's got 6 now, and possibly working on a 7th! Poppi sent him a plum the other night. He will sit in his high chair for quite a while and suck and bite on a plum. I tried a banana today but  after a few bites it made him gag. He is still having a problem with texture. Getting better though! 

He is still pulling up and figuring out how to make his way all around!! 

Partially Sunny Weekend with a Side of Lemons!!

We had high hopes for Saturday. We were planning on boating over to a restaurant to meet the Antley's and Baygents for a late lunch, and then coast on over to my friends pool for the rest of the day. The rain got in our way and washed us out! We still met for lunch, via car!

While we were all eating and conversing we had to find a way to keep Baylor entertained. Lemons!!! 

This may be one of my favorite pictures ever!! Hilarious! He really did like them though.

We have a low key week to enjoy and a fun weekend with plans coming up, so we hope for nice weather again! This time for BOTH days! 

T-R-O-U-B-L-E

Here  comes trouble. I mentioned yesterday that Baylor has been trying to stand up. Mission accomplished. I have seen him standing in his bed, and this morning he discovered how to open up the spice drawer. This just so happens to be where I keep his jars of baby food!

I don't think that this picture really captures it, but he wasn't just pulling up, he was CLIMBING the spice rack. Is this normal? If this continues we will have to get him one of those nets for his crib for the crazy, dare-devil babies who try and climb out!! 

Right after Baylor picked out his lunch, I fed him and then walked over to clean his spoon and when I looked back he was STANDING UP in his high chair. OMG! Don't worry, I quickly grabbed him out of the chair as soon as I snapped this picture! This one is going to keep us on our toes for sure!!

Once he was safely on the floor, he crawled over to peer outside longingly at his cousins running and playing on the porch. Poor guy!

Baylor is 10 Months Old!

Honestly it sort of pains me to say out loud that Baylor is 10 months old. That is only 2 months away from the big ONE! I cannot believe it. He actually said his 1st words on July 20th, his exact 10 month birthday! He has babbled "dadada" and "mamamama" for quite a while, but the other day Jason said "Baylor, can you say Dada?" and Baylor looked at him and said it right back to him! It was priceless. He has only said it a few times since, but it was the real deal.

I have not had any luck with pictures lately. Little Baylor is constantly on the move so it makes it hard.  I am going to have to take what I can get and use it, or else he will be another month old before I get a picture posted. Here are the back to backs:

Here is a picture of the boys holding hands. Brighton sure did get a kick out of the fact that Baylor wanted to hold his hand, even though it made eating his popsicle difficult!

Meanwhile, I have been having one of those mini depressions lately about summer going by so fast. I have been feeling like how you feel on the last day of a vacation, knowing it is coming to an end. I normally am ready to move on to the next season by now, but not this year. I am enjoying every bit of this summer so far and cannot even start to wrap my head around Baylor's 1st birthday party and Halloween, even though they will both be such fun and special occasions. Hmmm, maybe a good heat wave would kick me in the pants...
