The Big Snow

I have been a horrible, slack blogger in 2014. Mostly because I am so busy at work and  then when I get home it is constant chaos and not enough hours in the day! It feels like we are constantly running around from here to there, with the kids, to work, childcare... it's crazy! So, last week we got a little break from all of that. It snowed big time!
On Wednesday at lunchtime it started coming down, and never stopped. Here is Day 1, when we had accumulated about 4 inches.

Playing in the snow! It was coming down hard and fast so it was hard to see. Luckily, I discovered that onion-cutting glasses make great snow blizzard goggles!! I really need to get Brighton some better snow apparel. We will be ready next time!
It turned into falling ice that night and I was petrified that we were going to lose power (this has happened in a bad 3 day way to me before). I was really nervous at the prospect of keeping two small kids warm and fed during a possible outage. On Thursday, the falling ice had turned back into fluffy snow again!

It came down again, all day! At the end of it all we got about 9 inches!! We did a little sledding and goofing off out in it. Jason decided to make a snowman. Only, he decided to be an over achiever and make a colossal snow man!

Yes, he actually got out the ladder!
I realize this snowman looks slightly scary/ugly, but you have to realize that he was so big that finding over-sized features for him was a difficult task, so I came up with the only items that would actually show up on his huge head!!
Finished product:

I was done with the snow after day 2. The boys were making pillow pallets on the floor and jumping around. They are normally not allowed to do this but you kind of have to say screw it, once you are snowed in for a few days!

Luckily we never lost our power and had plenty to eat and DRINK. Yay for snow beers!! Built in cooler all around us!
Baylor found Brighton's old snow/rain boots and was obsessed with them. So cute!

By Saturday, the sun was out, slowly melting away the snow and I was ready to get out of the house! Mickey and Lacey had us over for a low country boil and it was delicious!!
Later that night...

Sunday Jason and I took the boys shopping to get out of the house again.

And now we are back to work/school, daily grind. It was fun while it lasted though!
