Max's 60th!!

Max turned 60. Hard to believe huh? Connie did a fabulous job of putting a party together for him. She had all of his close family over and some friends. She had it catered. The food was great. We all played corn hole out side. Even Brighton tried to play. Max's mother brought over a photo album full of pictures of Max from childhood to now. It was a really good time and it was good to see everyone.

Lacey sent some pictures out yesterday and I thought I would share a couple on this blog. My beautiful nieces!

Happy Boy Again!

Our happy Brighton is back! On Tuesday morning we got up, and I just had a good feeling about the day. Brighton was much less fussy than he had been. We got to school and he started crying, as usual. I carried him in that day because it was pouring down rain. When we got to the classroom I put him down to sign him in, and he was crying, but he walked into the room by himself, instead of running after me. This was a small victory. When I arrived at 1:00 to pick him up I saw that he was smiling! His teacher said that he had smiled most of the day and played with the kids. He even had done an art picture. It was done with sponges shaped like apples and paint. It is really good!! On the ride home and any time I asked him about school he responded positively. I hope next week goes as well. These pictures were taken the same day. He was "cleaning".

This weekend was supposed to be the weekend. MOVING WEEKEND. Due to the amount of rain we have gotten the yard is a mess, making the inside a mess as well. I will work on getting as much in as possible. Jason is taking loads of stuff over right now. We will be busy for the next few days.

A visit from the Thomas's

This past weekend my parents, Lacey, Mickey and their girls drove to Anderson SC to meet My Uncle Ronnie, Aunt Vickie, Zach and his friend Garrett at the Auburn/Clemson game. After the game they came back to my mom's house for 1 night. It was a brief visit but so nice to see them!! The women went shopping Sunday while all of the guys went to the Panthers game, and then they hit the road back to Bama.

Took Brighton to school today and the teacher said he was a little bit better. Hopefully we are getting there. This little guy has some major changes going on. Our new furniture is being delivered on Friday and Jason has got a helper to move our stuff over from storage and then I will work on getting things unpacked Saturday and Sunday as much as I can. Direct TV comes Monday and so do we!! It is FINALLY move in time!!!

Front door and frustrations

I have not updated in a while. Mostly because I have been lazy with the camera, but also because we have had a frustrating two weeks. Brighton has a case of severe separation anxiety. It has been ever since he started school. Even when we are at home he does not let me out of his sight. On Tuesday the school had to call me because he would not stop crying and they thought he was going to make himself sick if he didn't stop. So, Jason went and picked him up. Wednesday was not much better as they said the only times he did not cry was when he was eating food. My friends with kids are telling me to stick it out and keep trying, it will get better. Better get him used to it now than later. It is just so unlike him, as he has been around other kids all of his young life, and normally does well in the care of other people. His teacher is perfectly nice and the other kids attempt to play with him but he ignores it. He has been a little bit under the weather this week so I hope that has had something to do with it. We go for his 18 month doctor's visit tomorrow morning and I will talk to the doctor about it. I am hopeful for a better week next week.

The house has been a little frustrating as well. We have a closing date of Thursday, Sept. 22. All inspections were set for this week and little things keep failing, holding us up. We do feel like the end is near though.

Brighton's School Daze

Well, yesterday things did not go as I expected they would when I went to pick Brighton up from his 1st day. His teacher Miss Kari said "It hasn't been a good day". She told me that he had cried most of the day and was very clingy to her and would not play with the other kids. I was bummed and thanked her and took him home. This morning we got up and I threw the word "school" around a bit to see it would trigger a bad reaction, and it didn't seem to. We got out of the car and he walked in and as soon as he got to his class room he pulled back and started crying. I left him with Miss Kari, feeling bad for her and him. Well, when I picked him up at 1:00 she told me that he had been much better today and didn't cry for long and even played with the kids. I am feeling so much better!

Some of you have mentioned to me that I do not seem like the Elmo back pack type. Yes, this is true but I did not know until the last minute that a back pack was a requirement, and had to get it in a crunch, so that is why he doesn't have something cuter. Maybe I will get him a better one for his Christmas.

House Progress

We had big rain over the weekend so the house is a mud pile. Unfortunately we had a big storm that knocked some of our retaining wall down so that is being corrected. Oh the joys of building!! There are some good things going on inside. These pics show a little bit of detail. We are finally getting there!!

1st Day of School

Jason, Brighton and I have been very fortunate when it has come down to Brighton's "daycare" situation. Since he was a tiny baby and I had to go back to work, we have had wonderful grandparents who have all stepped in and helped out to take care of him during the week when we work. We are very appreciative of it. We think that the time has come for him to start interaction with other children his age. As of this morning he has started a mother's morning out program at a local church here in Denver. He will go 2 days a week from 9:00 until 1:00. This is the same program that his cousins Jameson and Michael are enrolled in, so he will be seeing them some I imagine. He and Jameson's class rooms are right next door to each other so I am sure he will get excited when he see his "YayYay" (this is what he calls her)during playtime outside and in the hallways. I was very sad to take him and see him growing up so fast. I bought him a back pack, and packed him a lunch and walked him into school this morning. So now, I get to look forward to him bringing home germs and being sick a lot while he builds his immune system up! Fun times. I cannot wait to see him today when I pick him up!

Labor Day Weekend

I hope that everyone had a great long weekend! We mostly stayed around the house. Had a few slumber parties with the cousins, and hit up the lake beach and the pool. This 1st picture of Brighton in his oriental pajamas. Yaya got all 3 of the little ones pajamas when they were in China Town on their Canada trip. We think he looks like a little Emperor in them!

Marking Territory

This was our attempt to get Brighton's hand print in the driveway of the new house. It didn't turn out great but what can you expect from an 18 month old? Also the cement was JUST poured and very wet.

Back of the house progress

The deck has been completed. The middle part will be screened in. I am hoping that a lot of things will happen next week.

It is Labor day weekend! No big plans. Jason is going to the USC game tomorrow and I will hang out with little B. Hope everyone has a nice long weekend!

Kissing cousins

37 Years!

Happy Birthday Jason!!

Wednesday was Jason's birthday. We went to a Mexican restaurant to celebrate his birthday as well as Lacey and Mickey's 7th anniversary, and my parent's 37th. They share a August 28th date. This date also happens to be my cousin Patrick's birthday. Happy birthday my sweet Jason! Happy birthday Patrick who probably doesn't even read this blog, and happy anniversary Lacey and Mickey, and Mom and Dad!!
