Memorial Day Weekend

We had a great long weekend. Filled with (mostly) nice weather, family and friends.

We did a lot of boating, and playing on Baygent's beach. Celebrated my dad's birthday with a brunch by boat, then grilling out at home. It could not have been better!
Waiting on brunch table for 10!

End of the school year

Sadly, the Denver Baptist Preschool 2013-14 year has ended. We were lucky this year to have a group of wonderful and devoted teachers/care givers. Baylor had Mrs. Linda who is the ONLY person that he never cried while being passed off to when I had to leave him.
No, that's not Baylor that she is holding...
Baylor thrived in her class and she was so good to him and sweet. We will miss her.
Brighton had Mrs. Stacy and Mrs. Keri (again) this year. It was amazing what he was taught and learned this year. Of course he knew his alphabet and how to count going in but he now can write his name, knows all of his shapes, colors, days of the week and the months, and so much more. Today was the last day of the school year and I was thrilled to see that when I picked him up, Stacy had given us a disc with some pictures they took throughout the year. How thoughtful!! Here are a few:

There were so many birthday celebrations. Brighton would always come home telling me what kind of cupcakes the birthday child had brought in to share!
This is Easton, Brighton's best bud

Baby Jesus cupcakes for the Happy Birthday Jesus party they had. These are so sooo cute!

The school year is over but we will be back in a couple of weeks for the Summer Safari program and then again in September to start the next school year over.

2014 Family Beach Trip

Last weekend we took our 1st little get away to the beach. We stayed at Jason's mom's place. Had a great time!
It was the tail end of "Bike Week" so we were a little worried at 1st because of the crowd and noise, but by Sunday, all was quiet. The kids actually had a little fun at our oyster "dive" place, as it was filled with bikers and loud. They were yelling out at some of them in the parking lot. Normally this would not be allowed! It was cool on this particular night and environment though.
Encouraging the bikers to ride fast at the restaurant
We had 3 full beach days. Well, 2 actually, as it rained and was overcast on Sunday. No problem, we just went to the Fun Warehouse for a few, and then to dinner.

The other 2 days were nice. Not quite hot enough to make us want to get in the pools, but hot enough to enjoy laying out and playing on the beach!

We enjoyed a couple of seafood dinners out and one night out to the the pizza place where Baylor tried and tolerated pizza for the 1st time. Yay! This sounds silly to mention but is a victory towards his milk allergy.
We also enjoyed golf cart rides and walks on the pier.

Good start to a fun summer. Now we have Memorial Day weekend to look forward to and of course you know we are planning some more beach trips!!

Around the house these days...

Wesley has a stalker. Poor, poor Wesley who now comes in at 3rd place it seems in our family, is finally getting some attention. Not sure he really wants it! All of sudden about a week ago, Baylor has taken notice of him in a big way. He is obsessed with him. He has a special tone in his voice like a high pitched coo-ing voice that he uses when he is babbling to him. He runs over and starts hugging and petting as I remind him to please be gentle! Wesley has become more nervous in his demeanor since we have added the children to the household. Often, he just wants to hide out in the quietness of my bedroom, where his bed is. Except during meal times, when he can be found  standing right under Baylor's high chair looking for thrown  dropped food.
This was taken the other night after Baylor's bath. He ran into my bedroom. I was in hot pursuit as normally when he goes in there, he starts pulling out  shaving cream, my make-up, etc... from our bathroom drawers. This time, he was just sitting practically in Wesley's bed with him.
I wonder how long this will last. It is very amusing. I wish I had a video of the way he talks to the dog. So funny. I don't know how much more of this Wesley can take! This is where he goes when my bedroom door is shut and he wants me to please let him in! Baylor found him...

Mother's Day Weekend

What a wonderful weekend!! On Saturday we went to my niece Taylor's 1st birthday party. 1 already!!
Kelly and Craig had a really cute set up. It was a good time.
She got excited about her balloons and her cake!

Baylor was hanging with the "big kids".
On Sunday, it was a beautiful day. Brighton was so sweet and excited to tell me Happy Mother's Day and present me with his gifts. He made me a tile with his hand print painted on it at school, and Yaya helped him make a mosaic tiled flower pot for me. He was excited about both, as was I. He was also happy to help me open the gifts that he and Jason had picked out for me. Great job guys! We started the day at church, and after that we went to Alton's which is
where we have been a few times for their delicious Mother's Day brunch.

Lacey and I are so lucky to have such a talented, funny, friend of a mom! I am so proud to call her my mother.
~LOVE~
During the second part of the day we got to see Jason's mother and family. Rachel, Donnie, Craig, Kelly and Taylor came over. It is fun to see Baylor and Taylor interacting more.
My mother in law raised such a fine man and wonderful father so I am so so thankful to her for that! Love you too Rachel/Gigi!
Jason grilled shish kabobs and we enjoyed the rest of the day.
It doesn't take Mother's Day for me to realize all of the blessings in my life, but it sure is nice to have a day like that to reflect on my two children who I love dearly and am so proud to call mine, as well as the love that I have for my mother and our relationship :)

Pre Mother's Day Sweetness

I picked up the kids from the preschool today and Mrs. Linda, who takes care of Baylor handed me my gift that Baylor "made" me. Oh my gosh it just melted my heart! Those feet!

I love this so much! I may transfer one of my planted herbs to it. I wish I could have been a fly on the wall watching this little foot painting project! Baylor has just recently started giving us kisses. I didn't think it would ever happen. I love it!
Brighton who has always been our affectionate child, informed when we got in the car, after I received this cute pot, that I "didn't pack his lunch right". He told me what I did wrong and it is something I will make sure to never do again!! Kids. He is so sweet most of the time though and claims that he always wants to live with Mommy and Daddy, even when he is a "growin up". I offered to at least finish the lower level for him but he said no, he wants to stay upstairs with us!! Also he talks about his future children. He will say that he wants to "save this for my children" talking about some of his personal belongings. So cute.
I love my little baby boys so much!!!

Fishing~Derby Party~Boating Weekend!

We had a lovely weekend. Very eventful. The beautiful weather made everything even better! Lets see, Saturday Jason took Brighton to a kid's fishing tournament. They  had a really good time.

They gave Brighton a medal and he is very proud of it!

Later that day, we went to my parent's house for a Kentucky Derby party.
Shiny new medals go with seersucker, right?
The kids played, Mickey made a shrimp boil, and Donna made us YUM mint juleps. I am not even sure who won the race!

On Sunday we went out on the boat. Lacey, Mickey, Jameson, Michael as well as Kelly, Craig and Taylor came. It was Taylor's 1st boat ride, and we didn't know how she was going to do. She wasn't crazy about wearing the life jacket so we didn't go far. We went to a nearby little beach. Taylor did great! Everyone had a  fun in the sun, good time.
We were sad when Monday came around but after a busy work week, we have another FULL weekend ahead of us. It must be Summertime!
