Partially Sunny Weekend with a Side of Lemons!!

We had high hopes for Saturday. We were planning on boating over to a restaurant to meet the Antley's and Baygents for a late lunch, and then coast on over to my friends pool for the rest of the day. The rain got in our way and washed us out! We still met for lunch, via car!
While we were all eating and conversing we had to find a way to keep Baylor entertained. Lemons!!!

This may be one of my favorite pictures ever!! Hilarious! He really did like them though.

Sunday we woke up to bright skies!! Yay!!

The boys entertaining themselves on the floor while we cruised!

We have a low key week to enjoy and a fun weekend with plans coming up, so we hope for nice weather again! This time for BOTH days!

T-R-O-U-B-L-E

Here  comes trouble. I mentioned yesterday that Baylor has been trying to stand up. Mission accomplished. I have seen him standing in his bed, and this morning he discovered how to open up the spice drawer. This just so happens to be where I keep his jars of baby food!
I don't think that this picture really captures it, but he wasn't just pulling up, he was CLIMBING the spice rack. Is this normal? If this continues we will have to get him one of those nets for his crib for the crazy, dare-devil babies who try and climb out!!
Right after Baylor picked out his lunch, I fed him and then walked over to clean his spoon and when I looked back he was STANDING UP in his high chair. OMG! Don't worry, I quickly grabbed him out of the chair as soon as I snapped this picture! This one is going to keep us on our toes for sure!!

Once he was safely on the floor, he crawled over to peer outside longingly at his cousins running and playing on the porch. Poor guy!
Here is one from yesterday of Brighton and Jameson at the local splash pad. Summer fun!!

Baylor is 10 Months Old!

Honestly it sort of pains me to say out loud that Baylor is 10 months old. That is only 2 months away from the big ONE! I cannot believe it. He actually said his 1st words on July 20th, his exact 10 month birthday! He has babbled "dadada" and "mamamama" for quite a while, but the other day Jason said "Baylor, can you say Dada?" and Baylor looked at him and said it right back to him! It was priceless. He has only said it a few times since, but it was the real deal.

Baylor 10 Months
I have not had any luck with pictures lately. Little Baylor is constantly on the move so it makes it hard.  I am going to have to take what I can get and use it, or else he will be another month old before I get a picture posted. Here are the back to backs:

Brighton 10 Months

Here is a picture of the boys holding hands. Brighton sure did get a kick out of the fact that Baylor wanted to hold his hand, even though it made eating his popsicle difficult!

Baylor trying to stand up. Yes, that is Brighton in the baby carrier.

Meanwhile, I have been having one of those mini depressions lately about summer going by so fast. I have been feeling like how you feel on the last day of a vacation, knowing it is coming to an end. I normally am ready to move on to the next season by now, but not this year. I am enjoying every bit of this summer so far and cannot even start to wrap my head around Baylor's 1st birthday party and Halloween, even though they will both be such fun and special occasions. Hmmm, maybe a good heat wave would kick me in the pants...

Our Weekend

We had a pretty good weekend. It was mostly spent with Jason's family. We went over to Kelly and Craigs' to hang out on Saturday night, and Sunday we got to hang out with Craig again as he and Rachel came over to go out on the lake with us.

Here is Brighton sitting in the bumbo seat that even his little brother has outgrown!
Baylor will not sit in it and barely wants to bounce in his jumperoo anymore, as he would rather be crawling!
Oh no!!! He has discovered the stairs!

Baylor has been loving his baths lately and all of Brighton's toys that we have accumulated in the tub.
I will be updating his 10 month status on here later this week.

Sippy Cups and Spiky Hair

This week seems to be flying by! Not sure why as we do not have anything out of the norm going on. The boys are back in the motion of their old schedule since they are now in the summer program of Mother's Morning Out at the church preschool. I think Baylor may be having a growth spurt as he has been waking up EXTREMELY early, wanting to start his day. He is also growing his 5th tooth.
Now what am I supposed to do with this?

At our last well Dr.'s visit for Baylor I told  Dr. that he is eating baby food well, and 3 times a day, but does not want to drop any of his formula bottle feedings. She suggested we try giving him a sippy cup with water in between meals. He seems to like the idea, but hasn't quite gotten the hang of it yet!

Wrong way!!

Big brother will show you what to do!!

As for Baylor's hair, it has been doing this mohawky thing. Not sure what that's about. It is funny though. By this age, we could  tell that Brighton had curly locks. I fully expected Baylor to by now. I cannot imagine he would beat those odds, as both Jason and I have curlyish hair (although I try to look like a natural sleek and straight gal myself!).  Is it possible that he could have straight hair??? We shall see...
Almost got it!

Weekend With Friends

Our weekend was so so so much fun. I do not know when I will recover from it. I am very tired!
On Friday, Shayna, David, Remley, Rhett and baby Vera came to visit us. I wish I had more pictures of Vera. She is so pretty and looks like a little Shayna Mini Me.
Baylor and Vera got along for the most part, but I don't think she liked his sporadic loud shrieks. You  know, the kind where he just likes hearing the sound of his own voice.

All of the other kids had a great time together, as usual.

On Saturday, Alecia and Jake joined us. Shayna and I hired a baby sitter so that we could all go have a boating day and let the big kids play as well as the even bigger ones!

The weather was not perfect but hey, at least it didn't rain!!
After the boat ride and our tie up time we all headed back to my house for dinner. We grilled out and all had a blast!
Every one packed up and headed home on Sunday. The Flowes, and most of the Antley's decided that the weather was to nice to pass up a few hours on the water so we went for it again. As a bonus to our lovely weekend, Lacey, Mickey, Jason and I went out to a rare adult dinner at Alton's where they have started "Restaurant Week" early!!

I cannot believe that July is halfway over. This has been the fastest summer EVER!

Stay-Cation

With the 4th of July falling on a Thursday this year, my boss was oh so generous and gave me both Thursday and Friday off. This made for a nice, long weekend. For once, it seemed, we had no major plans. So, we had 4 full days of relaxing and staying close to home. This was a good thing as the weather was iffy and we had on and off showers all "weekend". I guess the boys sensed we were having a stay-cation because they chose to sleep late 2 of the mornings!!

Our long time family friends Debbie and Lynn Biter came to stay with my parents. We went over there and played mostly outside all day and grilled out for the 4th. We ended the night roasting marsh mellows and seeing a nice fireworks show from Baygents Beach.
Baylor practicing standing up on Poppi. Strong legs!
Since the rain storms were off and on we relaxed some at the house. At Brighton's request he wanted Baylor to watch a movie with him. It did not last long, I promise!

While at home we managed to get some productive things done. Yard work for Jason and some cleaning for me. We did a trip to the mall one day together and ate some take-out. The sun stayed out long enough for us to have one half day of boating!!

I enjoyed all of the time we got to spend together. This off and on rain is supposed to continue into our week and possibly the weekend. Better not, because we have some big plans that require lots of sunshine coming up.

Not Your Average Weekend

I mentioned in my previous post two things. 1, that my grandmother, cousin Kim and her daughter Abi were coming to visit us. 2, that Baylor was getting sick. Both of these events happened as planned. It was a shame that they had to meet Baylor for the 1st time when he was so under the weather. We tried to get in some quality time, but just could not help the fact that he was not well. We did have a few good moments with everyone. We had dinner at my mom's Friday night. Saturday morning Jason stayed home with the sick baby and let Brighton and I join everyone for breakfast on the water.

We all joined them later that day but our visit was cut short when Baylor was getting worse not better. As instructed by the nurse I spoke to, we were feeding him tiny doses of pedialyte every 5 minutes. He could not even tolerate this and continued to throw up, constantly. At least doing that (pedialyte) kept him hydrated enough to have (barely) wet diapers and tears :(
Since I was on the phone ALL WEEKEND with the after hours nurses, they reassured me that he was at least not dehydrated. We kept thinking this was a 24-48 hour bug that would pass. So did the nurses.  By Saturday evening I was beyond worried. I have never had a child this sick on my hands. We went to Urgent Care but were RUDELY turned away. They had an empty waiting room and I could clearly see the Dr. in the background  who was not busy. They refused to look at Baylor, telling me I would have to go to the ER. This was at 7:30 PM, 30 minutes before closing time, again, empty waiting room. I begged for them to just at least look at Baylor and give me some advise on how to get through the night. Refused. They also refused the next patient who came in, telling him to go to the ER as well. They clearly wanted to get started on their fun Saturday night plans. I was PISSED but more so worried about Baylor. Jason and I felt reassured by the fact that he was not showing signs of being dehyrated and he was having some happy moments, so we could not see us sitting in an ER waiting room for hours while we fed him pedialyte like a bird, and him constantly throwing up. We would do that at home. Sunday morning, no better. I called the nurse. She sent us to a special Pediatrician Urgent Care. Thank goodness. They saw us right away and were actually concerned. Since Baylor had no fever they checked for some other things. Dr. was worried about some areas and wanted to be cautious, in case he needed surgery, so she called an ambulance and we were taken to Levine's Children's Hospital in Charlotte.
In case you were wondering, babies ride on gurneys while still strapped in their car seats!

As you can imagine, Jason and I were beyond scared and sickened with worry. Trying to stay calm, but it is pretty hard to see your baby in an ambulance. The good part about that was that we were seen immediately upon arrival. After a few test and ultrasounds they gave us the relieving news that surgery would not be happening.
Waiting on his ultrasound
Sick, hungry baby/ Worried, tired Mommy
We were there for hours. The doctors and staff there were wonderful. They finally decided that he had a nasty virus that was staying with him way longer and more severely than it should, and gave him some medicine to stop his vomiting. It worked. After more evaluation they discharged us with a prescription. What a scare! I am grateful that we took the precautions that we did though. I am also VERY grateful for that Magic Medicine they gave him!

Since we will be getting a hefty bill for all of this, we decided to keep the hospital gown. He looked so cute in it, though I NEVER want him to have to wear one under any circumstances again!
At home and finally happy!

Brighton never really knew what was going on as he was having fun with his cousins, grandparents, Aunt and Uncle.
Baylor is getting better every day. He is now back to eating bottles as well as solids! As for that 1st Urgent Care facility I went to, their management team will be hearing from me. I was told at the children's Urgent Care facility that their behavior was NOT acceptable and that I should report them. They gave me the info so that I could do so.

Glad Baylor is okay, but sorry we couldn't spend more time with my out of town family :(
