Alecia's Girls Night/Shower

My long time friend Alecia is getting married in April. Myself, and the other 3 bridesmaids threw her a shower and girls night out over the weekend. We wanted something a little different so we went with a painting party at Wine & Design LKN.

What could be better than good friends gathering to eat, drink,  paint a masterpiece and celebrate Alecia?? It was actually fun. We had an instructor to help us along the way.

The Bride and her Bridesmaids!
It was a fun night and I cannot wait till the wedding!

Basketball Madness!!

Last weekend GiGi, Pop, Jason and Brighton got to go see the Harlem Globetrotters. Brighton had a blast! All he wishes for each day is nice weather (Mother Nature has not obliged) so that he can go outside and practice dribbling! This has to be one of my favorite pictures of him in a long time.
Also this week, Jason and I went on a fun date night to a Bobcats-Soon to be Hornets game! We had amazing seats on the 3rd row/Club section. It was so nice to have that much needed time together. We had so much fun . The Bobcats even won!!

Yesterday was my birthday. It was sweet. Brighton was all excited and he and Jason carried a cinnamon roll with a candle in it to wake me up with while singing, handing me cards and presents. This is a tradition at our house for every birthday. My mom and sister took me to lunch and then Jason grilled us filets for dinner. Brighton eyed our plates after eating his turkey pot pie and asked why didn't he get a steak?  Oh snap! Now we have to start buying the 4 year old, little person, who lives in our house  filet mignon??? I did not foresee this happening anytime soon! Anyway, it was a great birthday. More to come as  Lacey is taking me out for a special day tomorrow and Jason and I have a special date night planned for next week, minus the little people (who live in our house).
Brighton has become addicted to Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal. I know, real healthy right?? But what are you going to do? His aunt Lacey had the same addiction when she was a child. So what happens when you run out of the cereal? You make the real deal. The toast that started the whole thing! My mother and grandmother (Guy) used to make it for me often as a child so I decided to let Brighton and Michael try it this morning. They loved it!!
He has already requested that I make it for him again tomorrow but I also picked up a new box of cereal today, so he is going to have a choice. One way or the other, can't have both in one morning!
Happy Weekend to all!

St. Patrick's Day Weekend

We had a very low key weekend. We decided not to go to the parade this year, but we of course got the kids together to play and celebrate St. Patrick's Day a little early.

Sunday, my mom had us over for corned beef and cabbage. Oh and green apple sauce!

Also on Sunday, I took Baylor for his 1st haircut. I wanted to take some good befores and afters of him sitting in the chair, only he didn't really dig sitting in that chair! I ended up holding him on my lap while he squirmed! My photographer then, was a 4 year old, so none of the pictures that Brighton took made it to the blog. Here is what I managed to get though:
Waiting his turn:

It is cute but I do miss stroking the back part of his sweet, soft hair while rocking him before bedtime.

We have not really been doing anything interesting lately. I guess it is just that time of year. NOT to say that we have not been busy, because that is a constant! We have had a nice week with 70 something degree weather and the boys have been able to play outside. I know we have more cold weather coming along, but it has given us a glimpse into spring!
Brighton is working on writing his name and is doing well writing all of his letters in school. He often comes home with stories about various class mates who are his friends and I find it heartwarming.
The time change last week seems to make my boys (even Jason) tend to sleep a little later. This is GOOD. When I say "later", I mean like the 7 O'Clock hour, which is much better than the 5 or 6 O'Clock hours...
Baylor has been waving and calling out to everyone he sees lately. It's really cute. It seems he has moved from emptying out the contents of the coffee drawer, to getting IN it!
And as long as he is occupied and content...it is fine by me!

Another busy week has gone by. We had another threat of a wintery mix but it was a light dusting and nothing to put us out of commission again. I am so glad that March is here and we will be getting some warmer weather soon! I hope. This week Lacey and I have been doing Burn Bootcamp. Oh my gosh it is kicking our butts! Jason has been great and has taken care of both kids in the evenings, letting me go. He thinks it's some kind of fun escape for me, but really it has been pure hardwork/hell! I am going to keep it up though. SPRING/SUMMER IS COMING and so is boat/beach Season. Ready or not.
Baylor must think he is to busy to sit down and eat, like his mother who is always standing  up to eat dinner these days! The time changes this weekend. It has me wondering how it will change my boys' sleep schedules...

Happy Friday!!
So glad the weekend is here. We have no big plans,so I hope to get some things accomplished! Maybe we will take this little mullet boy for his 1st haircut. :(

Happy Birthday to Brighton!!

We had planned to go see my grandmother last weekend but thanks to the snow we couldn't go. So, we decided to go this past weekend instead. She lives in Warner Robbins, GA, which is at least a 5 hour drive. We left Thursday afternoon. Baylor hates riding in the car. Other than that part, it was a great time!! Its is always fun to hang out with Grandmother and she loved seeing the boys, and they had a great time with her at her house. While we were there, we got to see my Aunt Linda and Uncle Fred.

They took us to see their new home, under construction. Loved seeing the beautiful home,  and the kids had a ball playing in the yard. They only had 60 acres to roam!

Brighton turned 4 years old on Saturday. Time really does fly. He brought cupcakes to school to celebrate early on Thursday. He was soooooo excited about that!

We went to a Japanese Steakhouse on his official birthday to celebrate. Then, Home Sweet Home for us.
Brighton has forgotten about Batman and has a new obsession of Power Rangers. A full blown obsession! It's been a Power Rangers kind of birthday!

Sunday was beautiful and in the 70's so we got to play outside all day.  This was Baylor's 1st time riding as a passenger in the jeep. Made me a little nervous and sad. He is going to be a big boy too, before we know it!

The Big Snow

I have been a horrible, slack blogger in 2014. Mostly because I am so busy at work and  then when I get home it is constant chaos and not enough hours in the day! It feels like we are constantly running around from here to there, with the kids, to work, childcare... it's crazy! So, last week we got a little break from all of that. It snowed big time!
On Wednesday at lunchtime it started coming down, and never stopped. Here is Day 1, when we had accumulated about 4 inches.

Playing in the snow! It was coming down hard and fast so it was hard to see. Luckily, I discovered that onion-cutting glasses make great snow blizzard goggles!! I really need to get Brighton some better snow apparel. We will be ready next time!
It turned into falling ice that night and I was petrified that we were going to lose power (this has happened in a bad 3 day way to me before). I was really nervous at the prospect of keeping two small kids warm and fed during a possible outage. On Thursday, the falling ice had turned back into fluffy snow again!

It came down again, all day! At the end of it all we got about 9 inches!! We did a little sledding and goofing off out in it. Jason decided to make a snowman. Only, he decided to be an over achiever and make a colossal snow man!

Yes, he actually got out the ladder!
I realize this snowman looks slightly scary/ugly, but you have to realize that he was so big that finding over-sized features for him was a difficult task, so I came up with the only items that would actually show up on his huge head!!
Finished product:

I was done with the snow after day 2. The boys were making pillow pallets on the floor and jumping around. They are normally not allowed to do this but you kind of have to say screw it, once you are snowed in for a few days!

Luckily we never lost our power and had plenty to eat and DRINK. Yay for snow beers!! Built in cooler all around us!
Baylor found Brighton's old snow/rain boots and was obsessed with them. So cute!

By Saturday, the sun was out, slowly melting away the snow and I was ready to get out of the house! Mickey and Lacey had us over for a low country boil and it was delicious!!
Later that night...

Sunday Jason and I took the boys shopping to get out of the house again.

And now we are back to work/school, daily grind. It was fun while it lasted though!

We had a great weekend. A fun time on Saturday night, celebrating Todd's birthday.

Billie put together a little surprise.

On Sunday, Jason and I got a lot of projects done on the house!!
Now, we are bracing ourselves for another big snow. Possibly. I never believe those weather people when they are THIS sure! That's when it usually doesn't happen. We shall see.
